A Name At Last

We built the pilot house benches this week.  It was great to get the last of the major furniture built and installed.  It will be a beautiful place to sit and watch what’s going on around us at the slough.

The console is also getting back into shape with the help of an old radio we were able to relocate.
But the biggest thrill of the week, for me, had to be officially naming the boat.
Delphie was named after “All the Rivers Run”, an Australian mini series based on the book by Nancy Cato.  video clipThe novel is set in 1890’s Echuca, Australia's largest inland port, along the Murray River.  Philadelphia Gordon survives a ship sinking and meets Brenton Edwards aboard a paddle steamer, eventually they name the boat the Philadelphia.  It’s a wonderful story of their adventures traveling on a river boat. for more information about the miniseries
